Victory for police dogs and horses as they’re protected by law from Saturday

From Saturday it will be a criminal offence to injure a police dog or horse thanks to a campaign by an officer and his brave service dog. Finn’s Law closes a loophole which meant service animals were treated as force property.

The law is an amendment to the Animal Welfare Act which gives specific protection to police dogs and horses while on duty in England and Wales.
