PeTA: The White House – "Stop Animal Homelessness at Its Roots"

The Animal Welfare Organization PETA has launched on the 22nd of September a formal petition adressed to the President Obama, requiring him to take measures to control the number of cats and dogs and stop « overpopulation crisis » in the USA territory. Indeed, due to the lack of sterilisation programm, on overage, each days, 8 kitten or puppies are born.

Last year, the White House has created a special page called « We the people » which permit to any citizen aged of more than 13 years old, to create an onlinepetition. If the petition get at least 5,000 signatures, it will be sent to the appropriate policy makers in the Administration which will have to gave an official response.

Since now, the petition has collected 8,532 signatures, and consequently the canine and feline overpopulation issue should be considered by Obama’s administration. Moreover, on the 23rd of September 2011, another petition has been launched asking for the ban of puppy mills. It has already collected 2,289 signatures.
