Introduction
For many years now the public has been active on the topic of the human-dog relationship. Thousands of animal welfare organisations and private people are working to stop the suffering of dogs, or are supporting private initiatives.

The European institutions are also becoming more and more active in this field and the European Commission has conducted a public consultation on the evaluation of the First Animal Welfare Action Plan.

Here you can find all kinds of activities that take place in the EU, for example public questions from Members of the Parliament to the European Commission, and their answers, and also public consultations and petitions from animal welfare organisations and private people. Even some governments have started initiatives to tackle their canine (or feline) overpopulation, and you may find information about these initiatives here.

Please be aware that while we are listing some activities, our lists cannot be exhaustive, and neither can we guarantee the quality or the status of the (mostly private) organisations mentioned.
